2018-2019 new student registration for first grade and new students will be available at the school and church office during the week of March 12th and the week of March 19th.  The church office is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.  The school office is open from 8:00 am  to 1:30 pm daily.  Pre-K registration for new families will be during that time as well.  There are openings for 2 days, 3 days and full time students.


The third quarter ends Friday, March 9th.  Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, March 14th.


Congratulations to Kate Schleeper, Jed Struse and Conley Klocke on making their 1st Reconciliation! 


The SMS Annual Benefit made approximately $30,000!!!  Thank you to everyone who organized, worked, donated and attended this benefit to help make it such a success! 


SMS MathCounts team traveled to the regional competition at SIUE on Saturday, February 3rd.  The team members that attended were Shane Macauley, Brody Caselton, Jerica LaMarsh and Payson Camerer.  Belle Friedel and Jacob LaMarsh were alternates.  The team placed 2nd in the small school division.  Shane place 2nd overall individually and will compete at the state level in Lisle, IL on March 3rd.  Good Luck Shane!!!


The Modern Woodman Civic Oration school level speech contest will begin Monday, March 12th.  The topic in which the students will be writing about is "Inventions that improved the quality of life".  This contest is open for the 5th thru 8th grade students.  The speech portion will be sometime in April. 


Brussels School District in cooperation with Four Rivers Special Education District is sponsoring free vision, hearing and developmental screenings for all children 2 1/2 to 5 years (entering kindergarten) who reside in the district.  The screening will take place in the SMS auditorium in Brussels on Tuesday, March 20th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Please call 618-883-2124 (St. Mary School) to schedule an appointment.


Brussels Women's Club sponsored a drawing contest for a new sign at the South Calhoun Library.  Two of our 8th graders won the contest.  Emma Hagen placed 1st and Hope Odelehr placed 2nd.  Emma's drawing will be on the new sign at the library.  Congratulations girls!!!


April 13th is Grandparent/Senior Friends Day.  The program will be held at the Brussels American Legion Hall.

Box Tops for Education - Box tops were recently sent in and $125.00 was earned.  Please keep cutting and sending in the box tops.  Please also watch the dates on the box tops as they do expire. 


The Campbell's Soup label program ended in January 2018, therefore no labels need to be collected anymore.


Please be aware that the frozen food fundraiser will be delivered in the afternoon of March 21st.  All parents must pick up their orders AFTER school.  The trucks will be at the school at 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm.
